Bark in the Park at Chimney Rock State Park near Asheville, NC

Chimney Rock State Park is one of the Asheville area gems, granting visitors with 75- mile panoramic views from the top of the monolith called Chimney Rock. Visitors can hike the wilderness and enjoy Appalachian wonders, or have an easier day and take the elevator to the top of Chimney Rock to relax and enjoy the views.
On April 24, Chimney Rock holds the 6th Annual Bark in the Park, a day of fun and festivities for you and your
canine friend. They offer socializing, agility trainings, info booths, and lots more! The park is a pet- friendly park, but during Bark in the Park it is a special day for your furry friends, at no additional cost.
And, Carolina Mornings offers many a pet- friendly vacation rental for you to choose from, some right down the road from Chimney Rock! April is an awesome time of year to visit the Asheville area, so load up the family (don't forget Fido!!) and head this way!!

A 5K run and mile- long walk for Asheville's adoptable dogs!

When looking to adopt a pet in Asheville, NC, look not further than Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. Brother Wolf has helped so many animals throughout the country find loving homes, saving many from kill- shelters and relocating them to wonderful families. They are always having fundraisers for their organization (their adoption fees are very affordable, so I can see how the fees don't cover that much of the cost to run the place), and they recently opened a thrift store to increase funding. One of the events taking place soon to help with funding is the Run for the Paws 5k Run and 1-Mile Dog Walk on Sunday, March 28 at 130pm. You can run the 5k (without your furry friend) or opt for the 1-mile dog walk, and proceeds from either support BWAR. There is also a pet wellness fair that is taking place during the event.

Taking your dog friend to the North Carolina Arboretum

Once spring officially moves in, there are plenty of places for you and your hound to wander together around Asheville, NC. Since it is still rather chilly on some days, our mountainous regions are still dealing with leftover snow and ice that prevents hikers from traversing on many a hill and dale. One great place you can always share with your dog friend are the woods of the North Carolina Arboretum . Not only can you wander through the woods (you do have to use a leash, of course), once you have entered you and your pooch can visit the outdoor exhibits located within the Arboretum as well. Some of them are keeping warm for the season, but some still remain.
This gem within the Asheville boundaries is easily accessible and fun for the whole family. There are trails that are great for a not-so-hiker; there is a map that shows you which are the easiest and shortest and which let you wander further and longer.
March is still a great time to visit Asheville, and you can take advantage of the winter specials that Carolina Mornings offers- we love dogs and have many properties that do too!!

Springtime is in the air in Asheville, NC!

So the winter has been any icy and snowy mix, giving us more of this frozen precipitation than the area has seen in a very long time. This is great for many things: snow- capped mountain views; skiing at Wolf Ridge (and Carolina Mornings gives a free lift ticket to the resort in the winter, as well as other freebies, with every night of stay!!); sledding around town; sitting by a fireplace in a cozy mountain retreat; relaxing in a hot tub with snow falling around you; ice climbing; snow hiking... there really is a lot to do in and out of the snow during a wintertime visit to Asheville.
This weekend, however, we are experiencing beautiful blue skies and temperatures warm enough to galavant around in only one layer of clothing!!! This glimpse of spring reminds me how close we are, and how much fun there is to be had in warmer weather! So I have a few ideas to share...
1. Take advantage of our winter specials; most end March 31, and there are some really great deals!
2. Remember that we love your four-legged friends!! Many of our properties are pet- friendly, and the Asheville mountains have soooo many trails for you and your furry companion to play together!
3. Go ahead and plan your springtime getaway and be sure to get the vacation retreat that you want! The sooner you reserve, the more choices you have. And your furry friend would love to play with you in Asheville's springtime outdoors!!
