Cabin Spotlight: Black Bear Cabin In Black Mountain, NC

Enjoy a true mountain experience in Black Bear Cabin, one of our properties of the week. Black Bear Cabin is located in the mountains of Black Mountain, a quaint little town about 25 minutes from Asheville, NC, and it is also only 12 minutes to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Park!! Besides ease of access, Black Bear's great location offers hiking and fishing right outside the door! Enjoy fishing in the creek, or just relaxing to the sounds of the flowing water. Strap your boots on, gear up Fido (yep, this is another of Carolina Mornings' pet friendly rentals!), and wander through the woods!
Black Bear Cabin has much to offer within the property border as well. Bring the family along for the trip, as the cabin sleeps six. Or, make it a romantic weekend getaway with your honey, for you can relax together in the 2- person hot tub and enjoy a little competition at the pool table. There are also 2 fireplaces to get cozy by on those chilly nights, and satellite service provides you with some unwinding with your favorite shows. The kitchen comes fully equipped (as do all of our rentals), and you can enjoy a great summer cook- out with the charcoal grill.
Black Bear Cabin is one of our properties offering SPRING SPECIALS through May 26, and as always enjoy FREE TICKETS TO LOCAL ATTRACTIONS with each night of your stay!

Historic Johnson Farm Festival April 24 near Asheville, NC

This year marks the 20 year anniversary of the historic Johnson Farm Festival. Keeping in mind that WNC thrives on the small farms so integral to our community over the years, here is a chance for you to celebrate farming festivities!! Johnson Farm is no longer a farm, but a heritage farm museum that educates and celebrates the farming life. On the property are historic buildings that date back to the 1880's, as well as pasture, fields, streams, woodlands... you get the picture. It is a great place to share with your children "farming in the old days," and discussing how it has changed (or has not, in the matter of many a small farm in this area).
The festival is their biggest fundraising event of the year, so I'm sure they go all out. Wagon rides, storytelling, crafts, animals, music, food... you can make a day of it and the kids will be thrilled! You can sit back and relax in the sunshine and leisurely watch the day go by as the activities whisk your kids along.
Then, you can return for a leisurely evening to your Asheville, NC vacation cabin, cook a good dinner (or stop on your way back!), and relax into the evening. The day is low- energy, and the feeling is goo-ood!! Carolina Mornings offers some great NC vacation packages that can save you money, and we have FREEBIES for every night of your stay! You can't beat a spring trip to Asheville and a stay in a mountain cabin- the kids will love it (and so will you!!)

ZAMBRA and David Sedaris-Some of my favorite things

Ok, I put together this great vacation getaway package because I love dining at Zambra and anything that David Sedaris writes puts me in a great mood. So with a dooming economy in the horizon, why not enjoy while we still have the opportunity.

Zambra is amazing: Supports Asheville Sustainable Agriculture Project, using local produce, has been awarded the Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence and the wine list was voted best in Asheville. The dining experience has been featured in Southern Living, on the Food Network and recognized in the New York Times, LA Times, the Boston Globe and Charlotte N & O.
Couple dinner with a night with Mr. Sedaris' Santaland Diaries and you will temporarily forget this is 2008 when your money market funds plummeted 40% and your kids' college fund has shriveled up.  A wonderful way to celebrate and get into the holiday spirit.
