Mountain Aerie allows you and your guest(s) everything you deserve and can expect from a luxury mountain cabin. Enjoy spending lots of quality time out on the wrap-around deck where relaxing rocking chairs and a bubbly hot tub await. The panoramic vistas alone will keep you captivated for hours.

"This was the best Christmas ever with my husband and my 3 wonderful girls. The cabin really made us feel like we were at home. Such a wonderful place to be. Even though it didn't snow when we were there the view was beautiful. We drove about an hour and 20 mins. to go to the snow but still well worth the trip. I will come back to this resort and get this same cabin. I loved everything about it. I wouldn't change anything about this cabin. When we needed something in the cabin and called the front desk. Someone was right there (in no time at all)." - Previous guest from Florida

Inside, the cabin invites you to unwind in its spacious, open floor plan where you can warm up in front of the massive stone fireplace while gazing out at gorgeous mountain scenery. Let loved ones plan vacation activities as you prepare a home-cooked dish with ease in the fully-equipped modern kitchen.

When some friendly competition is in order, head to the cabin's “Wolves Den Game Room" and challenge everyone to pool, darts, or one of the latest TV game systems. The game room is also perfect for stretching out and watching a great movie on the big screen while sipping a cocktail made at the wet bar.

Just steps away from Mountain Aerie, the ultimate ski resort adventures are calling. From skiing and snow tubing to zip-lining and hiking, Scenic Wolf has it all! And if you're looking for more Western North Carolina outdoor fun, the resort is only minutes away from nearby horseback riding, golfing, mountain biking and so much more!

Mountain Aerie is the cabin where memories are made. Carolina Mornings would like to help you make those unforgettable moments with your loved ones. Give us a call today and one of Vacation Planners will be happy to reserve this special cabin just for you!

An Asheville Holiday Event: Gingerbread Houses at the Grove Park Inn

The Grove Park Inn takes edible art out of the kitchen and to the extreme! Entries to the 20th Annual National Gingerbread House Competition bring plenty of holiday cheer in these sugar-and-spice (and everything nice!) creations. The gingerbread houses will be on display from November 20, 2012 through January 2, 2013, with public viewing open Sundays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. The winning entries will travel to New York City for an appearance on Good Morning America; this is your chance to see the imaginative architectural wonders in person.

Triumphs from Christmas Past
Last year's winner was an Old-Lady-Who-Lived-in-a-Shoe-style Victorian boot with three levels of indoor scenes and a weathervane on top. In 2010, the Grand Prize went to a cast of Christmas characters including Santa Claus, Rudolph, and Frosty. An ornate bird cage, a castle, and a carousel have also taken the Grand Prize spot in years past. What do they all have in common? Except for the base, all entries must be constructed entirely of edible materials.

A Jolly Sleigh-full of Prizes
Contestants from all over the country will bring their culinary gingerbread masterpieces to be judged by a professional panel of experts at The Grove Park Inn this holiday season. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the artistry of the entries, and by how many there are! Categories include Adult, Teen, Youth, Child, and new award of $1,000 will go to the competitor who traveled the farthest distance. Chosen from over 200 entries, the Grand Prize Winner will receive over $7,500 dollars in cash and prizes. All total, The National Gingerbread House Competition awards more than $12,000 in cash and prizes!

The Legendary Grove Park Inn Is an Asheville Landmark
Grove Park Inn has been hosting the The National Gingerbread House Competition for twenty years, and has stood as one of Asheville's treasured historical monuments for a century. The 2013 milestone 100-year anniversary of the resort's opening kicks off this holiday season, evident in the gorgeous decorations that adorn the grand lobby and giant fireplaces. A visit to the Grove Park Inn is a fine way to spend an afternoon during your holiday getaway in Asheville, North Carolina.

Historic Biltmore Village Comes to Life During Annual Dickens Fest

It's almost that wonderful time of year again when Biltmore Village jubilantly recreates the community spirit of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," reminding us all of the importance of holiday giving and joy. From November 30 through December 2, 2012, this popular historic district of Asheville, North Carolina, gets all decked out with nostalgic charm and traditional Victorian festivities during the 24th Annual Dickens Fest. There are delights aplenty to enjoy when visiting the Asheville area during the holidays; here are a few reasons to leave the "Bah Humbugs!" behind and make the trek to Dickens Fest:

Live Entertainment for All Ages

Dickens Fest features over 300 performers, both on stage and roaming the Village in search of playful interaction. Entertainers include musicians, choral groups, strolling vocalists, and dancers. Main stage concerts draw an audience on Friday and Saturday evenings, when Asheville's own theater group, the Montford Park Players, will act out the classic drama between Jacob Marley and Ebenezer Scrooge. And the whole event is free!

Carriage Rides and Roasting Chestnuts

During Dickens Fest, Biltmore Village is transformed into a wonderland where the sound of laughing children, holiday bells, and the clip-clop of horse-drawn carriage rides fill the air. The merriment is amplified by the more than 250,000 white lights outlining the historic buildings. The smell of chestnuts roasting over an open fire mingles with the aromas of savory meals being prepared in Biltmore Village's award-winning restaurants, including The Corner Kitchen, Fig Bistro, Neo Cantina, Red Stag Grill, and Rezaz Restaurant and Enoteca. Experience the joy and share warm smiles and hot meals with your loved ones!

Holiday Shopping & Galley Browsing Opportunities

Shopkeepers at the Biltmore Village will be joining in on the Dickens Fest celebration by dressing in Victorian-era costume and keeping their shops open until 7 p.m. Enjoy the Fraser fir holiday door wreaths as you enter into one delightful shop after another. The Olde World Christmas Shoppe and Thomas Kinkade will prove especially appropriate, plus you'll find a little something for everyone at dozens of your favorite stores, including the Once Upon a Time toy store, Brooks Brothers, J. Crew, Coldwater Creek, Williams-Sonoma, and Lilly Pulitzer.

The Biltmore Estate's Seasonal Extravaganza

The spectacular holiday decorations at Biltmore Estate are truly breathtaking. A 35-foot Christmas tree, twinkling lights, and miles of garland cover every possible opportunity for holiday splendor. Carolina Mornings offers our guests discount tickets for the Biltmore Estate, and personal concierge service for discounted Candlelight Evening tour reservations. Asheville's HardLox Festival Offers More than Chopped Liver: Jewish Heritage, Music, and Food in Pack Square Park

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the HardLox Jewish Food and Heritage Festival comes to Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville, NC on Sunday, October 21, 2012. Enjoy a day filled with Jewish fun, including Israeli dancing, heritage and craft exhibits, educational resources, a Kids Zone (bouncy castle!), and lively klezmer music. Admission is free and everyone is welcome!

Savor the amazing food, if only for a day

If you've ever visited a Jewish delicatessen and smelled the mouth-watering aroma that wraps around you when you open the door, you know what delights await you at the HardLox Festival. Asheville is bereft of a Jewish delicatessen, so this is your one chance each year to enjoy this centuries-old cuisine. Traditional Jewish foods include pastrami or corned beef on rye, hot Challah bread, steaming matzo ball soup, and lox and cream cheese on a freshly baked bagel. A visit to the potato booth will supply you with handfuls of knishes and latkes, the bakery booth will set you up with rugelach, mandelbrot, and black and white cookies, and there's even a booth dedicated to noodle kugel. Come hungry.

Experience Jewish cultural traditions

Wonder what your name looks like when written in Hebrew? Take home a Jewish keepsake that was made just for you. Originating in the kingdoms of Israel and Judah over 3,000 years ago, the Hebrew language is sacred to the Jewish people and is written in a beautiful, ancient script. The HardLox Festival also offers opportunities to learn about the Torah and Jewish holidays while enjoying klezmer music. Step on up and learn how to dance the Hora and the Yemenite step!

The HardLox festival's local roots

The HardLox Jewish Food and Heritage Festival, hosted by Congregation Beth HaTephila and co-sponsored by the City of Asheville, honors the Jewish community of Asheville and Western North Carolina. An estimated 5,000 Jewish people reside in the area and are represented by over fifteen participating organizations, including the Asheville Jewish Community Center, the Center for Jewish Studies at UNCA, One Jewish Asheville, and the WNC Jewish Federation. Gracious and friendly, the Jewish community welcomes you to experience their unique customs and join in a memorable taste of the old country.
